Enrichment

PIED PIPER MUSIC

DIAS truly stands out with its rich array of enrichment opportunities for students. In addition to district-provided activities, DIAS offers year-long singing and instrumental opportunities with Camilo Ortiz, founder of Pied Piper Music. The video below showcases the developmental skills that DIAS students learn throughout the years with Pied Piper Music. Camilo partakes in various DIAS cultural events like Dia de Los Muertos, Art Night, and Dia de Las Madres, fostering performing arts skills and a deep appreciation for culture and creativity.

Our school also provides Art with Pepe (Jose G. Nolasco), through Hijos del Sol, a local organization who "inspires children and youth, and builds community in the Salinas Valley through visual and multicultural arts education, experiences, and mentorship, where young people are respected, develop artistic and life skills, and explore and embrace their cultural identities" (www.hijosdelsol.org).

DIAS ESPORTS

Under the leadership of our 5th-grade teacher, Mr. Dominguez, DIAS launched an ESPORTS program for 5th and 6th-grade students. Esports is an emerging initiative, and DIAS is among the first schools in the SCESD district to adopt it.

DIAS Esports secured 2nd place at the SCESD STEAM Showcase this spring! Great job to all involved

DIAS BALLET FOLKLORICO

In partnership with Tonatiuh Danzantes del Quinto Sol and under the leadership of Ms. Miriam Gomez, one of our very own DIAS parents and a folklorico instructor, DIAS offered Ballet Folklorico in 2023-2024. We served two groups, K-2nd and 3rd-6th grade students.

Our students practiced after school and performed at our DIAS Art Night and the SCESD STEAM Showcase. They also had opportunities to perform at various events outside of our school, such as the Festival del Dia Del Niño at MLK Academy. Additionally, our 3rd-6th grade group was selected to perform at Sherwood Hall for the Tonatiuh Desde La Raíz spring event. We are so proud of our students and all who helped make this program a success!
